Concert for International Festival of Women Composers

The Alachua Consort just performed several pieces for the 19th International Festival of Women Composers at the Baughman Center on Lake Alice in Gainesville, Florida. The concert, which took place on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:30pm, featured performances by Anna Amalia, Princess of Prussia; Anna Amalia, Duchess of Saxe-Weimar; Wilhelmine von Bayreuth; Anna Bon di Venezia; Elizabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre; Camilla de Rossi; Barbara Strozzi. Madame de Genlis was present (Sylvie Blum) and read two of her poems, and Frederick the Great was seen as well—in full regalia—introducing the event.
